Article Traffic

Submitting your own articles to popular article sites is an effective way to build good amounts of article traffic to your website. In addition to website visitors the articles you submit can be displayed on other websites which display your authors recourse box. This gives you valuable backlinks which help generate additional website traffic through the search engines and the link.

One of the major questions that often comes up when someone wants to start promoting their website with article marketing is, "What's the best way to create articles to get traffic to my website?"

What you include in your article will determine it's success and the amount of traffic it delivers to your website. If you want higher search engine results a well thought out article is a big factor in giving your site high rankings in search result pages.

To obtain the maximum benefits from your article you first need to concentrate on providing an article that targets your readers interests and keep them reading to the bottom where you provide a call to action.

If the article is going to be submitted to article sites it needs to be compelling enough for the reader to read all the way through and click the links in your author's resource box. The type of article that is most likely to do just that is the one that answers a specific problem the reader has.

Your article can also be entertaining, humorous or controversial which in turn would prompt readers to recommend it and email it to other people.

Most importantly it should evoke an emotional response whether it's curiosity to learn more or a meaty bit left unsaid with the promise of the answer through the link to your website.

You'll want to research your article content before beginning your writing. Here's some effective tips to assist you in making your articles attention grabbing.

Use Targeted Keywords and Keyword Phrases

Relevant keywords and keyword phrases should always be included in your article. As each website visitor goes to a site they are often actually looking for specific information relating to a topic. When this happens, a searcher usually goes to a search engine and enters in the keywords they are looking for (example: Myspace marketing, Using Facebook for your business, motivation techniques, etc).

To find out what keywords to use in my article content I use the free tool at: GTrends Tool From Wordtracker This gives me an estimate of how often a keyword or phrase is searched for online. You can enter keywords related to your website to determine the article you may want to create to compete for relevant search results.

For example, if you maintain a blog about mindset and motivation, you'll want plenty of articles containing all of the topics related to those keywords. Submitting unique articles on a specific keyword to your blog and a popular article site can give you multiple listings in the natural search results for that keyword. Tip. (Always try to avoid using duplicate content.)

Practice Proper Keyword Density

You already know that you need relevant keywords & keyword phrases in your article content. Keyword density is the number of times a keyword or keyword phrase is used on an article. The problem is that optimal keyword density is impossible to gauge due to the ever-changing nature of search engine algorithms.

The point here is, you want keywords in your articles, but don't over do it. Your article must not be stuffed with keywords to the point that the search engines penalize it. Your article needs a good keyword density for a search engine to rank it well, but not discount it as spam content.

A keyword density of 1% to 3% is usually effective to rank for your term. To achieve a 1% density you would need to insert your keyword or keyword phrase once every hundred words. Here's more information about how to avoid duplicate content penalties.

Make Your Article Compelling

This is extremely important because many people believe stuffing an article full of their keywords is the best way to get results. This may have worked in the past, however these days search engines are more savvy and readers won't put up with it.

You need to create your content for your readers and provide articles they will actually want to read. By providing relevant and good information that actually helps answer their needs you'll get the biggest results. Your articles should always be written with correct spelling and good grammar. In order to gain trust and get readers to take action by clicking the link in your resource box you need to gain their trust with good content.

Provide as many real facts as possible to boost your reputation as an authority in your area of expertise. The more effectively you communicate your experience in your article the more people will believe in you. This leads to trust in your recommendations and your products.

Be careful of reusing PLR content without rewriting it as many article sites will refuse it due to duplicate content filters.

Include a Link to Your Website

This one's a must... Link your article from the resource box of your article. This is the spot at the bottom of your article where you can talk about yourself, but don't do that. This area should be used to continue the article with the promise of additional problem solving information. You can use this section to promise a free report or newsletter with more information about the subject of the article.

The point here is to grab the readers attention and have them click through to your site. DON’T ever forget to include a link to your site. If people enjoy reading your articles, they will usually be inclined to click through to your website.
