Four Hour Work Week Review

Have you heard about the book called the Four Hour Work Week?

Over the past month it’s been all a buzz on the New York Times bestseller list and on many internet marketing blogs and forums. In the book the author Tim Ferriss explains how he went from overworked and underpaid to working under four hours each week and making more then ever. He accomplished this all in record time.

In his book, Tim explains techniques that can free you from tasks that do not produce results or can be easily done by others. Resulting in more free time to do the things you really want to.

I’ve reviewed the book and believe it to be an excellent source of inspiration for small business owners or entrepreneurs who want to free up time and enable you to live life on your terms. It’s an interesting look behind the scenes into how you can create a business that runs itself and add a few zero’s to your income in the process.

In the 4 Hour Work Week you’ll discover how to outsource the most repetitive tasks in your business to free your time, energy and creativity to do what you really enjoy and add more fulfillment to your life. Taking Tim’s advice I’ve just returned from a one month vacation, all the while operating my business from places like Lake Tahoe, Yosemite and Reno.

As you can see I’m a fan of the book and while I’ve been gearing up for freeing my time for the most important aspects of my business for some time the book was an excellent blueprint on how to escape and create the freedom you want.

I learned things like:

  • How to master a low information diet, by focusing only on reading information that is critical to tasks at hand while working. (Don’t stop reading for fun in your spare time!)
  • Stop the repetitive low yield activities that are major time wasters. Here’s a hint…(Email!)
  • Creating and implementing automatic cash generators to supplement service oriented activities.
  • How to create a remote control business by mastering outsourcing.
  • Find your true passions by mind mapping your favorite activities to enjoy the excitement of life, instead of waiting (hoping) for retirement.

That’s just a little of what’s covered in the book. Here are some links to other sources of information about the 4 Hour Work Week…

The author Tim Ferriss has been interviewed by some of the biggest online marketers like Yanik Silver and Darren Rowse. You can check out and download a free audio interview with Yanik Silver and Tim Ferriss the author of the Four Hour Work Week.

Popular blogger Darren Rowse interviewed Tim Ferris and asked him, “If you had a gun against your head to double your readership in two weeks, what would you do? He had some valuable ideas about what to do if you absolutely need to increase your readership right now.

    Matt,

I agree with all of your thoughts about the 4 hour work week. The book is jam packed with information for current employees, Information Marketers, and entrepreneurs of all skill/knowledge levels. I now look to create income streams with me out of the picture as much as possible. To piggy back your comments, I posted a review of the book as well http://newinthebusiness.com/WP/?p=4 Keep up the excellent work Matt!

    Hi Danielle,

Yes, I’ve got the Seven Habits Of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey on my desk. It’s a great book.

I love the stuff he talks about regarding the circle of influence and the circle of concern. It’s been very helpful getting rid of negative energy and working toward positive change.
