Increased Online Traffic with RSS

Would you like to get increased online traffic with RSS feeds? In my last post I discussed how I’m monetizing website traffic on one of my niche websites.

In this post I’ll be explaining how I use RSS feeds from popular websites in my niche, to automatically add content to my website. In addition to automatically adding content, you’ll see how using this technique, results in increased organic search engine traffic.

I’ll even share with you a cool twist I use to add Adsense to each post with a handy little Adsense plugin.

For this process I use a Wordpress blog attached to my main website domain. Once on my blog, I funnel website visitor traffic into my main website, which is where I make the most money promoting cpa affiliate products. You can see an example of the blog over at my Las Vegas News blog.

This is a feeder site which I use to grab traffic from the search engines and funnel visitors to my content site, and offers. As you can see there’s a lot of really short posts being displayed. These are RSS feeds being pulled from other popular websites in my niche.

Clicking on one of the title headings will open up the post to reveal what’s going on. You’ll notice the posts being pulled in are titled and include a little snippet of information. This is all set up to work automatically every day depending on the settings I choose.

Using a free Wordpress plugin called WP-O-Matic I can pull in as many website RSS feeds as I want. They can be set up to update as often as I’d like and post as much content as there is available from the sites feed.

What’s really cool is using this plugin allows you to designate specific keywords as links. This way when ever a specific keyword appears it is converted to a link pointing to where ever you want.

In the example below the keyword, “Las Vegas,” points to my main niche content website…

Using another free Wordpress plugin called Adsense Deluxe, I can automatically have adsense placed inside each new post.

Used together these plugins make a great combination for running a blog on auto-pilot. Posts are automatically added daily and they are monetized using Adsense.

Some of the benefits of this setup is:

1. It’s completely automatic
2. Requires no writing everyday
3. Can make money on auto-pilot
4. Search engines pick up your new posts
5. User generated content is created as people comment on the posts
6. Traffic is funneled into my content site
7. Websites subscribe to my RSS feeds giving me valuable linkbacks & traffic
8. Search engines spider more frequently

Now the drawback to this system, (you knew there had to be some, right?) is that this is considered duplicate content. In many cases if you’re just starting out, your website will not rank well versus the originator of the content.

However, in some cases I’ve ranked better then the original website due to my blogs authority. One of the ways to get more search engine friendly, is proper set-up and use of your Wordpress permalink structure. The way I set this up is to go into the blog dashboard and click, “Permalinks.” Then select, “custom structure.”

Then I add this little code: /%postname%/

Now, my blog displays fancy search engine friendly links which help me rank better. You can see an example of this in the blogs URL structure. It shows the keywords from the title first, rather than after numbers, and in a weird format.

Not only that… I set up my blog to ping a bunch of blog directories after each post. Here’s the list of blog sites I have each post ping. These can be added to your Wordpress blog, inside the dashboard. Just cut and paste them inside your list of Update Services. You can find this by clicking on, “Writing,” and scolling all the way down

As usual you need to spend a little time focusing on building valuable backlinks to your website, blog and inner pages to get more clout from the search engines. This will help tremendously when it comes down to determining who is seen at the top of search engine results.

Well, hope this post gave you some great ideas about how to increase traffic to your website using RSS feeds. In the next post I’ll talk about some more ways I generate traffic using free methods.
