Marketing With Twitter

Ok, I’ll admit I bit the bullet and signed up with Twitter. After all the fuss I’ve been hearing from Ed Dale about marketing with Twitter, I decided I’d better get with the program and jump on board.

What’s my first take? It’s like a one way instant messenger for everyone to see. I guess the voyeurs out there are going to love this one. As people post everything from, how much they drank the night before to, where they are in the world at that exact moment. Twitter is fast paced and surprisingly simple.

After going through the email sign up dance my first impressions we’re not so great. I saw a great deal of writing in Chinese, Spanish, CAPS SHOUTING, unintelligible comments and a lot of people saying they’re listening to so and so on their Ipod.

Wondering how and the heck Twitter could ever possibly be of any benefit I decided to dig a little deeper… Playing around a bit I added my website the Paid Insider Forum to my profile, uploaded a picture and sent out some Twitters of my own.

The results we’re less than spectacular, about three visitors in ten minutes to my site.

What could I expect with no followers, that’s Twitter speak for people who subscribe to your posts. So I Immediately went to work adding about 80 people as friends and began following their conversations. Out of the 80 people approximately 10 began following me.

One of the few things that instantly caught my eye were:

(You know how I love domain speculation, who knows the Twitter domains might someday be valuable)

  • Twitter traffic takes growing your social network of friends
  • Wordpress blog users can install a Twitter plugin to post directly to your blog from Twitter or from your blog to Twitter
  • You can not communicate directly with members until they begin following you, if they do
  • Install a link with your Twitter URL on your blog, Myspace or website to invite your friends, or visitors to follow you.
  • You can use the Twitter nudge to let someone know you’re interested in what they’re doing
  • You need to stay on top of your Twitter marketing if you want to be noticed. That means at least once a day being active and communicating with everyone.
  • Using Technorati to ping your Twitters will get you more exposure
  • Every time you make a post it is viewable in the Public Time line unless you specifically set it to private.

In the near future I’ll update you to my success marketing on Twitter and compare it to Stumbleupon in terms of effectiveness for online marketing.

Getting traffic from Twitter happens when you grow your social network of friends Think carefully about which Twitter name you select. Twitter keywords may possibly be useful in the future and their still are plenty of good one word keyword domains left. I grabbed Twitter / paid Members need to begin following you before you can communicate directly with them Sending a nudge to a friend on Twitter reminds them that you’re thinking about them Twitter is all about interaction, the more you post the more exposure, however post too much and your followers may become upset and stop following your Twitters You can check out the full Twitter marketing post at: Marketing With Twitter __________________ Get the Myspace Cash Machine! Very interesting. I checked out Twitter myself and, like yourself, only saw random people spamming. If the secret is in “followers”, how does one go about gathering targeted people to follow you? The secret lies there me thinks.

    Great post, subscribed.
